As they returned to the old world (where they came from), they found it had only been a few minutes away since they first entered the wardrobe. Rest assured, this is only the beginning of their future adventures in Narnia! 

This book was first published in October 1950 as the first installation of "The Chronicles of Narnia". It has been republished in over 1,058 editions on Goodreads and in many different languages too. For the 2005 edition (captured), Goodreads gives an overall 4.22/5 rating with almost 25,000 reviews.

According to Goodreads, this book received multiple awards, such as the Lewis Carroll Shelf Award (1962), The Keith Barker Millennium Children's Book Awards 'Children's Book of the Century', and the Retro Hugo Award Nominee for Best Novel (2001). 

Goodreads states that Clive Staples Lewis was one of the intellectual giants of the twentieth century and arguably one of the most influential writers of his day. He was a Fellow and Tutor in English Literature at Oxford University until 1954. He was unanimously elected to the Chair of Medieval and Renaissance Literature at Cambridge University, a position he held until his retirement. He wrote more than thirty books, allowing him to reach a vast audience, and his works continue to attract thousands of new readers every year. His most distinguished and popular accomplishments include Mere Christianity, Out of the Silent Planet, The Great Divorce, The Screwtape Letters, and the universally acknowledged classics The Chronicles of Narnia.
